Current data around principal retention is alarming. There is a 30% turnover rate with 21% turnover in high-needs schools and 50% turnover by year five of principalship. The two leading factors of their departure are inadequate preparation and lack of professional development.
In collaboration with district partners, the New Principal Institute is committed to developing and supporting new principals who foster positive culture, execute on change management, and lead through other adults to impact student outcomes. The program offers training with follow-up support in field to equip first year principals with the tools, skills, and resources to address their most challenging situations. Closing the achievement gaps of students requires a unique blend of skills from exceptional school leaders. Our program offers a strategically aligned scope of learning with a responsive cyclical approach inclusive of robust professional development sessions, coaching & practice, and assessment & feedback grounded in targeted leadership competencies to skill up the whole principal.
