Academic Support Services Leadership Team

  • The divisions of Academic Support Services work directly with Pre-K through 12 students. Head Start provides early childhood education to income-eligible students and students with special needs at 15 centers in east and northeast Harris County. The Schools division maintains four campuses offering programs that feature highly individualized learning and small group instruction in highly structured classroom environments to students with profound special needs, adjudicated or expelled students, and students recovering from substance addiction. School-based Therapy Services supports children with disabilities and their families in the areas of occupational therapy, physical therapy and music therapy through assessment, intervention, consultation, training and direct service in the classroom in a student's neighborhood school and district.

Business Services Leadership Team

  • The Business Services Division provides financial support services including budgeting, financial reporting, grant accounting, payroll, accounts payable, procurement, investment of department funds, and finance training to all HCDE divisions.

Communications and Technology Leadership Team

  • Communications and Client Engagement lead the public awareness and marketing initiatives for all divisions of HCDE through digital media, advertising and publications. Technology Support Services is responsible for maintaining all data systems and providing seamless and secure access to HCDE information systems.

Education and Enrichment Leadership Team

  • The divisions of Education and Enrichment support K-12 education in greater Harris County. The Center for Safe and Secure Schools provides school safety audits, threat assessment workshops and develops restorative practices programs for schools and districts. The Teaching and Learning Center provides a wide variety of professional development opportunities for educators though workshops and onsite trainings. Educator Certification and Advancement prepares candidates for state certification as teachers, principals or superintendents. The Center for Grants Development guides strategies to generate public and private resources to support HCDE projects and offers grant assistance services to Harris County school districts and charters. The Research and Evaluation Institute provides needs-assessment and other research-based services for the educational community. Education and Enrichment also manages the largest Adult Education program in Texas; offering workforce training, GED Exam preparation and ESL classes across Harris County.

Facilities Leadership Team

  • The divisions of Facilities are responsible for construction, improvement and maintenance of all HCDE properties to ensure safe and effective environments for staff and students. Additionally, the team includes Choice Partners, a national vendor cooperative, offering quality legal procurement and contract solutions that save time and money for school districts and other governmental entities and Records Management Services, offering storage, destruction, digitization of all classes of records in accordance with the State of Texas Local Governmental Records Act of 1989.
