Harris County School Districts Comprehensive Calendar

Harris County Department of Education compiles the Harris County School Districts Comprehensive Calendar, listing all 25 county school districts' holidays and beginning and end dates.
Key dates for the 2024–2025 school year:
- The first day of school begins as early as Aug. 7 (Galena Park ISD, Huffman ISD, Humble ISD, New Caney ISD) and as late as Aug. 19 (Cypress-Fairbanks ISD). Most districts begin school Aug. 12–14.
- Crosby ISD will have a 4-day instructional week (Fridays will be student holidays) starting in September.
- All districts will observe Thanksgiving break during the week of Nov. 25–29.
- Most districts start their winter break on Dec. 23 and return on Jan. 6 or 7. Students in Aldine ISD kick off the holiday first on Dec. 20, but Galena Park ISD students will be the envy of their peers, with the longest break ending on Jan. 8.
- Most districts, including the area's largest (Houston ISD and Cypress-Fairbanks ISD), will observe spring break from March 10 to 14.
- Staff workdays and other holidays differ.
- Every school district will wrap up the year during the last week of May, except for the largest district (Houston ISD), whose last day is June 4.
