Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) provides enriching educational opportunities and value-added services, by initiating innovative ways to improve educational opportunities for students in our partner districts. One of the ways is through our 37th Annual R. T. Garcia Early Childhood Winter Conference (ECWC). ECWC is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at the Kingdom Builders’ Center, 6011 W Orem Drive, Houston, Texas 77085. We would be delighted to have your support in continuing to offer excellent service to the Harris County region of schools.
HCDE’s Center for Educator Success will provide professional development to approximately 1,000 educators who serve children ages 3 to 8. The full-day conference features several sessions (e.g., early childhood, literacy, language arts, mathematics, classroom management, etc.) facilitated by nationally known keynote and featured speakers such as award-winning author and illustrator, Marc Brackett, Ph.D., who will share his message about giving Permission to Feel: How Emotional Literacy Fuels Learning.
As you are aware, the state of our nation changed after the shutdown of school districts across the world because of the effects of Covid-19. This has certainly increased the need to address the social-emotional needs of our teachers as well as our scholars. Therefore, as we offer a high-quality professional learning opportunity for early childhood educators, we anticipate a great turnout for this year’s event.
