Early Childhood Intervention
As of December 31, 2014, Harris County Department of Education ceased
operation of the ECI Keep Pace program. The responsibilities of
providing Early Childhood Intervention services have been transferred to
MHMRA of Harris County and Easter Seals of Greater Houston.
Alternative Certification for teachers or principals prepares aspiring degreed professionals to become either teachers or principals.
Educator Professional Development
Professional development for educators is offered for multiple subject areas through Instructional Support Services with veteran content area specialists. Workshops are held at HCDE or in school districts.
The Institute at HCDE provides quality, scientific-based evaluation services—including Internal Review Boards—which meet the needs of school districts and other community groups.

HCDE is an advocate for organizations which include the Education Foundation of Harris County, the Texas Virtual School Network (TxVSN) through the Texas Education Agency, the Academic Decathlon and the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
