Harris County Department of Education formed the Cooperative for After-School Enrichment, or CASE, in 1999. We mobilize the community to work together to ensure that every child in Harris County has access to an after-school program.
CASE believes every child deserves access to quality expanded learning time opportunities. A lack of meaningful adult supervision increases truancy, risk-taking behavior, poor grades and substance abuse. Kids need safe, stimulating places to go after school. However, working parents with extended commutes leave thousands of Houston’s young people unsupervised each day.
Our mission is to strengthen, support and sustain after-school programs and out-of-school time services. We accomplish our mission by leveraging community resources to fill the gap of this third space between school and home for Houston’s children.
