Texas Senate Bill 57 was passed during the recent 89th Legislative Session and went into effect immediately. It requires IEP and Section 504 teams to identify and document accommodations that a student with a disability may need during school drills or emergency situations, and to share that information with school administrators responsible for emergency planning. Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, students' IEPs and 504 plans must include this information.
