Jan. 3, 2023: Grant Application Announcement
CASE for Kids will submit an application to the Texas Education Agency for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Cycle 12 grant.
The purpose of the grant is to create community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children. Funds are used to:
- Provide opportunities for academic enrichment, including tutorial services to help students, particularly students who attend low-performing schools, to meet the challenging state academic standards.
- Offer students a broad array of additional services, programs, and activities, such as youth development activities, service learning, nutrition and health education, drug- and violence-prevention programs, counseling programs, arts, music, physical fitness and wellness programs; technology education programs, career and technical programs, internship or apprenticeship programs, and other services designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic programs.
- Offer families of students served by community learning centers opportunities for active and meaningful engagement in their children’s education, including opportunities for literacy and related educational development.
Activities reinforce and complement the regular academic programs of the schools attended by the students and are targeted to the students’ academic needs.
For the Cycle 12 application, CASE for Kids plans to partner with following school districts/charter systems: ISDs – Crosby, Galena Park, Houston, Sheldon, and Spring; Charters – Southwest Schools.
