Sept. 3: Indigenous Literacy Day
Indigenous Literacy Day is celebrated annually on the first Wednesday of September and is a vibrant celebration that honors the rich stories, cultures, and languages of First Nations peoples. It raises awareness about the literacy challenges faced by remote Indigenous communities.
Activity to do with students: Choose age-appropriate books by Indigenous authors. Invite local elders or community members to read and share traditional stories.
