Be the Impact: 2027 School Safety Summit

It’s a one-day, high-impact event focused on improving school safety, sharing best practices, and building stronger, safer learning environments—without PowerPoints that last longer than a school board meeting.  

June 18, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Houston Community College Northeast Campus (Learning HUB). In other words: mark your calendar and don’t “accidentally” double-book yourself.  

Nope, this event is free. Yes, you read that right. Free knowledge, free networking, and zero excuses.  

If you care about student safety, you belong here. That includes educators, law enforcement, school staff, health professionals, and community members. Basically, if you’ve ever said “we can do better,” this is your place.  

Absolutely. Expect real-world strategies, expert insights, and practical tools you can take back to your campus, not just motivational quotes and coffee (There will be coffee though!).  

Breakout sessions include school-based law enforcement, emotional safety, crisis decision-making, staff wellness, and leadership. Translation: all the important stuff we wish we never had to deal with, but must be ready for.  

Yes! You’ll meet professionals from across education, law enforcement, and community organizations. Business cards are encouraged; awkward small talk is optional. 

No. This is a working summit designed to equip attendees with actionable solutions, not just a tote bag and a pen you’ll lose by next week.  

Business casual is perfect. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended, because safety conversations are serious, but your feet shouldn’t suffer. 

Absolutely. You won’t be expected to survive on emergency granola bars, we’ll have the HCDE CSSS famous breakfast to get you started and a hearty Texas lunch to keep you going strong. (Bringing snacks is still an acceptable backup plan… because safety first!) 

Yes, and you should! School safety works best when everyone is aligned—and when you have someone to remind you what session you missed. 

You’ll leave with strategies, resources, and ideas to improve safety on your campus—and maybe a renewed sense of purpose (and a few new contacts in your phone).  

If your role touches students, staff, or school operations in any way, then yes. Safety is everyone’s responsibility, no matter your title.  

Because improving school safety doesn’t happen by accident, it happens when people show up, engage, and take action. No pressure… just the future of safe schools. We have been doing this at HCDE since 1889 and at the Center of Safe and Secure Schools since 1999.
