Harris County School Districts Comprehensive School Calendar
Harris County Department of Education compiles the Harris County School Districts Comprehensive Calendar, listing all 25 county school districts' holidays and beginning and end dates.
Key Dates for the 2025–2026 School Year
- The first day of school begins as early as Aug. 6 (New Caney ISD) and as late as Aug. 14 (Pasadena ISD). Most districts begin school between Aug. 11–13.
- Crosby ISD continues to follow a 4-day instructional week, with Fridays off for students.
- All districts will observe Thanksgiving break during the week of Nov. 24–28.
- Most districts begin winter break on Dec. 22 and return on Jan. 5 or 6. Students in Aldine, Crosby, Cypress-Fairbanks, and New Caney ISDs start their break the earliest on Dec. 19, while several districts return the latest on Jan. 6.
- Most districts, including Houston ISD and Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, will observe spring break from March 9–13. Others vary:
- Spring holidays are commonly observed on April 3, with some districts extending through April 6.
- Staff workdays and other student holidays vary by district, including additional days in October, February, and March.
- Every school district will wrap up the year during the last two weeks of May, except for Houston ISD, whose last day is June 4.
