Harris County Department of Education gained the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting Award for fiscal year-end August 31, 2009.
The achievement recognizes the highest standards of school system financial reporting for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for fiscal year-end 2009.
The award is only conferred to school systems that have met or exceeded the standards of ASBO International.
The CAFR helps to validate the credibility of a school system’s operations measures the integrity and technical competence of the business staff and provides professional recognition, said ASBO officials.
“Attaining this award increases our financial reporting credibility to the community as a whole,” said HCDE Assistant Superintendent of Finance Jesus Amezcua.
The comprehensive report is reviewed each year. This marks the eighth consecutive year in which HCDE has received the award. Information for the report is prepared by HCDE’s Business Services.
