The Communications and Public Information team from Harris County Department of Education earned 28 awards at the Texas School Public Relations Association Conference in Austin in February.
“Best of Category” winners included the HCDE Scholastic Art & Writing “Imprint” Magazine and a professional development flyer called “Managing Student Misbehavior.” Gold awards included four awards for feature and news writing and top honors for Web site, newsletter, communications plan, brochure, holiday card and calendar/planner. Silver awards were given in photography, identification (branding) packages, professional development catalog, annual report, advertising specialty, print ad and poster calendar.
School districts throughout Texas entered a combined 1,032 entries in the competition. The theme for the yearly conference was “Education: It’s Heart Work.”
TSPRA is a nonprofit, professional organization dedicated to promoting public schools through effective communications. The organization boasts more than 1,000 members who are public information and communications professionals who serve public school districts and education organizations in Texas.
